I’ve been watching it since and noticed the latch feels lose and seems to want to open. I tried your “push on the pin” test today and I can easily push the pin in and cause the latch to open in my 2011 XLS. How hard are the gas springs to replace?
Unless someone has has done it before, it usually takes several hours to install each one assuming everything goes smoothly. It sure seems like a bad design given the frequency at which this part (PN: D41-5211-60-91) fails and that is such a pain to replace. The part itself from Diamond is about $160 + shipping.
