Hot Feet in Da20a1

Post by krisherrick »

My da20a1 has really hot area near the rudder petals. My pilot pull off his slippers and gave them to me. They were noticeably warm to hot. The cabin vent is closed. Has any faced this issue? Is there a cure?

Safe flying

My mechanic found that the flapper on the cabin heat was all stuck and not closing well. It was doing this with the cabin heat level closed. Mark this issue closed.

I’ve had the same thing happen in a DA20, especially on longer flights. It seems like heat from the engine and exhaust works its way through the firewall and floor. What helped me was keeping the cabin vent open, even just a crack, to get some airflow. I’ve also heard of people adding insulation or using heat shields under the carpet, but I haven’t tried that myself. It’s definitely something worth looking into if it gets too uncomfortable.

I was looking into a few products . I think it’s ok now but summer was terrible. Will post an update later this year.
