I don't see why Diamond Aircraft would want yet another contact channel... with existing DAN and DPA outlets so productively representing owners and pilots. Why doesn't Diamond become much more active in DAN and DPA?! Hmmm.
It'll be part of the damage control strategy. First was the appointment of an ex-Mercedes executive engineer to Austro, and now an attempt at a user group, which of course Diamond will use to censor and control the narratives. It'll be a vehicle for their PR spin which your average Diamond user will see through and avoid.
On the positive side, one might hope it's the beginning of a groundswell shift in customer relations to prove us wrong.
I joined (giving only the minimum required info), but after logging in I don't see anything more than before I logged in. There is a lot of aspirational copy on the about page. I'm sure we all wish them the best...
I also joined. I could enter any password that has at least 8 characters. It was accepted. Now I want to log in, but the login screen says my password is not compliant. Tried a password reset and entering a much more complicated password. That was also accepted. Trying to log in... password is not compliant.

Because Diamond can't control the narrative on DAN or DPA or any third-party site.
The more interesting question is why Diamond wants to expose itself to transparent direct customer contact at all. I don't see any mention of COPA on the Cirrus website (please, correct me if I'm wrong, I didn't look that long). I don't see any Cirrus representatives on the COPA board. I don't see any links to Cessna groups on the Textron website, or Piper supporting a Piper club.
I wouldn't want DAN to get subsumed into a Diamond-controlled "club" format anyway. It's better that owners and pilots be able to communicate openly and independently without fear of censorship.

I agree with Dan. I am highly suspicious of Diamond's motives in creating the new site. I'm not joining...
I didn't see a problem with joining DFC. Need to understand what they are up to. Who knows, maybe something good will come of it. But they have no control over DAN or DPA and I will continue to contribute to both.
