DA50 Pilot / Owner Knowledge Exchange
Hi all,
I‘ve been monitoring this part forum already for some time and reached out to many DA50 owners, to exchange personal experience with the aircraft.
Our DA50 is now 2 years old and we already gained a lot of knowledge we would like to share with new or existing owners. We are mainly in contact with owners from Europe.
Noticeably a lot of new DA50s appear in the USA, so if you are any of the new DA50 owners in the US (or anywhere else), feel free to send me a message here in the forum.
Best regards Leon

Re: DA50 Pilot / Owner Knowledge Exchange
Seems not many have joined this forum group.
The 50's do share the exact same Landing and Taxi lights as the 42's and 62's
So the same improvements can also be had, as the 42 and 62 owners have often availed for themselves directly after US delivery.

Re: DA50 Pilot / Owner Knowledge Exchange
Im up to about 300 as well.
The brakes have been interesting... given how heavy it is in the front.
The engine has been great.
The FIKI got signed off in January. I got into heavy icing once and the prop was going kinda crazy... But it seemed to shed the ice
I had problems with the squat switches which was fixed.
The engine has been great
The only problem is a flaw... I think a design flaw ... in the throttle quadrant. If I were you I'd keep my feet on the brakes because it sometimes revs unexpectedly. I think that it comes from different answers to the two ECUs on the throttle position. This seems to happen if the throttle is bumped.. like when you maybe are getting settled? This happened at the 100 hour and required the conti dongle to fix.
I ended up putting a red semi-transparent electrical tape over the fiki lights because they are so bright and there is no way to dim them.
I have mounted a starlink antenna on the sunscreen... works great.
I had the USB ports replaced. And I put in a USB-PD power port
The annual had a number of loose things.. .but seems buttoned up now.
There is a WhatsApp group of Europeans mostly that is active.
I think that the Chinese built da50s will be interesting.
Maybe ill update my sr22/da50 comparison with the new stuff I found?

I've been to the Factory in Wuhu China, not far south (~100km) from NanJing (of historical "fame").
Its quite an amazing extremely modern facility.

Happy to share knowledge if I am able to help. Now at 390 hours in mine plus 20 in others. For me it has been a great plane and is very forgiving to the average pilot like me. It handles all conditions well and even in icing conditions it fly’s well. The prop picks up ice even with the heating on but you feel it getting a little rough and you need to go to full power to spin it off. This normally only takes 20 seconds.

Above minus 10 degrees, the prop system is a de-icing system, not anti-icing.Shoeman wrote: Mon May 05, 2025 6:17 pm Happy to share knowledge if I am able to help. So ice building up and periodically shedding is normal.
