MSB-E4-043/2 (Revision 2) released 5/5/2025 with terminating action on borescope inspections with installations of piston E4A-72-300-000 (and kit E4A-72-300-KIT). This would be for new engines with these parts or engines with replacement of these pistons.

My engine was at premier (KFXE) when we found the crack and the engine is being shipped to Aerotec for the new pistons.
I also just heard from MyFlight that they have new kit replacements arriving in the coming week and have some of their techs at the factory right now meeting about the piston replacements. MyFlight is the designated provider for Southeast for piston replacements and just completing a new engine shop designated for this. They are one of three service centers in the US certified for replacements.

Hey guys, so MyFlight has done the piston replacement on my 40NG and they have done close to a dozen so far from what i've heard and they are a few weeks away from opening their dedicated engine facility to handle all the affected serials. Quick and easy service by these guys. Warranty claim submitted easily through them.

Russ and all, I'm on my way back from London at the moment and thought I'd chime in here. Zefting Aviation will also be performing these replacements at our facility in Bellingham, Washington. We will be able to assist fly in customers with the goal to turn singles in less than a week and twins in less than two. We have three full time Austro trained techs available. For those on the west coast we have qualified flight crew able to perform pick-up/drop-off service as well. Should you prefer to work with your local service center we can also accept shipped engines for a faster turn around if that makes geographic sense vs the alternatives. Please reach out with any questions.

Re: Piston MSB affecting newer engines - MSB-E4-043
Brett,
How will Diamond authorize the pistons to be replaced under warrenty? I have a 2024 DA62 that I took delivery of in May of 2024. Is it as simple as me scheduling a time to flyi it to you (I'm in Reno) and dropping off for the work, or is some sort of pre-approval needed? Im going to be on a long trip in November (commercial airliner) and would like to see about getting this completed when I'm gone. Or does Diamond have some sort of prioritization on who/when this terminating action is completed?
Thanks,
Bryce

Re: Piston MSB affecting newer engines - MSB-E4-043
Bryce,
I can only speak as a service center and what we've been told:
Like most things it's simple on the surface with additional factors. Their priority in stock allocation of parts is AOG aircraft, those with cracks found or 900hr timed out pistons. After that I'm sure they are eager to stop the bleeding. As I receive requests/commitments I'm forwarding each aircraft, engine s/n's, time and situation under the MSB's and will be allocated parts accordingly.
In your case, I can with great certainty say yes, let's get you on the schedule for November and there should be no problem getting parts by then.
We're currently trying to coordinate all of our customer replacements with their annual or other scheduled events...but the engines that are currently airworthy are low priority unfortunately at the moment so we'll just have to see how it plays out.
Austro's goal is to push enough stock out to remove all of these pistons by the end of the year, I'm sure they realize some will choose to continue on to 900 hrs etc.
For those not on the west coast: Reps from Steel in Ohio, Take Flight in NY, MyFlight in FL, as well as Lift were at this class and are approved to order and install these parts. Every attendee there has extensive experience in cylinder head replacements, main bearing cap screw replacement etc etc which have large overlap with this task.
There is also the Aerotec option as well.
The more information we have from owner's and their forecast hours/need etc; the better Diamond will be able to allocate and prioritize.
Thanks!
Brett
