One VERY High EGT
Real time issue as I’m flying through Montana mountains on way to Glacier NP. Runup at KRAP was normal, but climbing out our #4 EGT jumped to 1600, then steadily rose until it was off the chart. All 4 CHT’s are normal, around 360, and engine is running smoothly with seemingly full power. I would expect a sticking exhaust valve to cause engine roughness and loss of power, but experiencing neither. #4 EGT will drop somewhat in descent, but still reading at least 200 degrees hotter than the others. UPDATE: as I’m typing, #4 egt just displayed a red X. I suspect just a bad sensor. Thoughts?

Re: One VERY High EGT
It’s a bad EGT probe. They fail time and again. So long as the CHTs are showing normal you shouldn’t have any issues. (Also EGT isn’t required for any type of flight so this doesn’t restrict you in any way).

Edit*
Also this is typically a very quick fix it’ll just need a new probe. What kind of display do you have? Garmin?
