Hi,
this August I plan to fly my DA42NG from Germany to my airpark lot in North Carolina (NC26; Dave, you've been there...) and after crossing the pond and landing on the grass runway the main issue (and actually my biggest headache) will be how to navigate the narrow 50ft "taxiway" (roads etc) to get to my hangar without clipping a wingtip. Right next to the "taxiways" are bushes, trees and even retaining walls.... Needless to say we have no yellow centerlines on the roads. So I need to follow the tar edge at the center of the20ft wide road...
Best would be to mount a gopro under the belly behind or in front of the front wheel such that I can steer the front wheel exactly on that tar edge.
Any ideas where would be good mounting positions and what kind of mounting bracket to use?
My DA42 right now is >4000 miles away in Germany so I have a hard time looking at it, and when back home its a 1:30hr drive to the airport from where I live south of Munich....
Thanks!
Joe

I've used a couple of different mounts for putting a GoPro under the tail, looking forward. Although the camera is at the back of the plane, it should provide an adequate view of the nose wheel (and the mains). Note that with the GoPro 12, I am able to see live video in the cabin via the GoPro app and a wifi connection. It works well. I'm not sure I'd want to rely on that for taxiing if I was solo but maybe with someone watching the app in the right seat.

Trevor,
thanks, excellent feedback! Seems like the Nflightcam is sold out right now and as I'm flying back to Germany in 2.5 weeks I might not get it. Where exactly did you mount the MyPilot Pro Mount? The flight manual says:
"Near the lower end of the tail fin of the airplane there is a hole which can be used to tie down the airplane to the ground."
I have to admit I never even noticed it I guess this is where you mount it?
Is that an extra battery you got attached to the camera?
Thanks
Joe

Re: Where and how to mount a GoPro to view the front wheel
Por,
sure, but I guess I would mount the camera after landing so I don't need wingwalkers the 1/4 mile to my hangar... I guess the bracket can stay on, then one would just loose the bracket... The Nflightcam bracket seems to mount the camera a bit higher so might be better suited to keep it on while landing...
