DA40 or DA42 in Switzerland, Germany and Austria?
I am going to be in Switzerland, Germany and Austria for the next two weeks. What is the vest way to get in some mountain flying as a tourist? I have FAA Commercial Multiengine ratings and a significant amount of time in DA40s and DA42s. I would also be interested in gliders while I'm in the area. Any recommendations? Should I bring my certificate and medical along with me on the trip?

We are now in Southern Germany. We are going to be in the Zurich general area in about a week, but we haven't made hotel reservations anywhere yet. We are staying agile in this trip. Any suggestions?

Re: DA40 or DA42 in Switzerland, Germany and Austria?
hi,
We are in southern part of Austria, close to Italy and Slovenia. Our geographical borderline represent the race track between Austria and Switzerland for gliders. We have beautiful lakes and mountains, nice hotels and good transportation.
At our flight school www.mck.at you could rent a DA40-180 G1000 with safety pilot and we could introduce the alps as well as Venice or the nice adriatic coast line within a day to you.
Parallel, a nice flight in a gider is also no probm to be arranged!
Check www.carinthia.at - stay either in Villach or Klagenfurt or at any of our lakes... Enjoy Carinthia the southern part of Austria! Just conact me for detailed information or any help ou are looking for!
Best regards,
Michael

Re: DA40 or DA42 in Switzerland, Germany and Austria?
Michael,
Your location in Austria looks amazing! Unfortunately, we are not going to be able to make it that far South on this trip.
We are going to be in Innsbruck for the next 3 days (5/20-5/22), then our plans are flexible between Innsbruck and Zurich for the few days after that.
If anyone has any suggestions for flying (or gliding!) around Innsbruck and Zurich for the next week or so, please let me know.
