Continental Diesel FADEC Service Link

Post by Colin »

We are pleased to announce that the Continental Diesel FADEC Service Link is now available for owners and operators of private, charter and training aircraft.

In case of aircraft aground now users and pilots will be enabled to download the engine data directly from the FADEC system without assistance of their service centers. So our customers will benefit from a much higher flexibility in unforeseen circumstances and can save time and travel costs. With the FADEC SERVICE LINK operators do not have to wait for the service center to arrive and to download the diagnostic data. They can however provide the data themselves and enable the service center to pinpoint the cause, organize necessary spare parts and optimize/minimize their tools when travelling. In addition to the faster response time this single step can save up to a couple of EUR 1,000.00.

The FADEC Service Link uses the diagnostic port installed with every Continental Diesel Engine to download FADEC data. For some installations an independent power supply might be necessary. This can be provided by a separate adapter in connection with a standard DC socket that has to be present in the aircraft. Please refer to the attached list or consult your local service center whether it is required in your application. The included USB drive acts as a storage device during download and enables the user to transport the data to any location from where it can be sent.

The downloaded data can be sent to the technical support of Technify Motors at support@continentaldiesel.com or to an authorized service center for Continental Diesel engines.

Attached, please find a detailed presentation on the usage of the FADEC Service Link as well as the short description that will also be supplied with each FADEC Service Link device.

For the following aircraft types an alternate power supply will be needed in addition to the FADEC Service Link:

· Cessna 172 with Garmin 1000
· Robin DR400 with CED
· Robin DR401 with CED
· Piper 28-181 with Garmin 1000

Please find an overview of all aircraft types powered with Continental Diesel engines attached.

In the attachment please also find an order form for the FADEC Service Link and, if required, the power supply adapter. Both are on stock and can be provided on short notice.

This is HUGE!!! finally a solution... I don't know how often we had Problems with ECU errors at Airports where there was no maintenance... (we operate 4 Continental Diesel Engines). Getting a cable to read the data was impossible.. you needed to be maintenance company, go for a one week training and pay thousands of dollars..

This solution was needed soooo urgently... !!! We will order one cable to test it.. and likely also a second one...

Does anyone already have experiences with it? Since when is the solution available?

I am an engineer and one of these would be very useful.

What price did they quote?

I have exchanged a few emails with CD about this link.
It is of little use to engineers and is aimed at private pilots to carry on board.

It does not allow you or your service centre to view the data downloaded. You will be able to see the event log but cannot clear any warnings and cannot graph the data.
It will save time if you are stuck away from base because your engineer can see the event log and be better prepared but he will still need a laptop and CAN connector to clear any warnings and to do the Real Time download during subsequent engine runs.

Hello Colin,

Did you get the FADEC service Link? How long did it take you to get this. How good is the functionality of the link?
Any feedback is appreciated.

Regards,

Veeru
