GTX 345R Bluetooth
Has anyone else after upgrading to the GTX 345R experienced connectivity issues with the bluetooth sitting in the front seat? I know 3 of the planes here in New Orleans after the install are experiencing the same issue (2 2004's non-waas, 1 2008 with waas).

Re: GTX 345R Bluetooth
Yes - I had that very issue with my 04 DA40. Have Garmin send your shop a replacement unit. That seems to have fixed my issue and others as well.
Cheers.
Cheers.

Re: GTX 345R Bluetooth
Garmin has swapped out the unit. And I am still having the same issue. I am thinking about going with the flight stream 110. Anyone else try this yet?

Re: GTX 345R Bluetooth
Ask Garmin to install that for free based upon warranty since BT does not work. That is what my shop was going to do had the swap not worked.

Re: GTX 345R Bluetooth
I tried that, they are installing the 110 free labor and a discount on the unit itself.

Re: GTX 345R Bluetooth
There is a note in the install manual that essentially says that if you experience BT signal issues then you are too far away from the transmitter and you should purchase a Flightstream. They know the signal isn't strong. This is expected.

Re: GTX 345R Bluetooth
My newly installed GTX 345R has weak Bluetooth as well. (G1000 WAAS) I am going to ask the avionics shop to install a Flight Stream. I will ask for price considerations for the unit and installation costs.
Question - Should I ask for a 110 or a 210? Garmin description says that the 210 supplies AHRS data while the 110 does not. I already get AHRS data from the 345R - will the 110 pass it through or would I need a 210 to get this data in Foreflight? It is hard to justify double the unit cost for AHRS data since it isn't a real back-up. Any other difference between the two that I do not see?

Re: GTX 345R Bluetooth
At the time when Aerotronics installed a GTR-345R in my DA-42, they suggested a FlightStream 210 because of the composite airframe. From a prior project, the shop knew I would want AHRS capability for running either ForeFlight or Garmin Pilot and it has been working great ever since the work was completed some 8 months ago - now I can't imagine flying without it.

Re: GTX 345R Bluetooth
Was told by Garmin Tech Support that the Flight Stream 110 is not compatible with the GTX 345 and that I should get the 210. Doesn't really jibe with Grant's experience so go figure.

Re: GTX 345R Bluetooth
Clearly, the installation and the GTX-345R itself is by far the most expensive part of this upgrade for Diamond owners. In light of the overall expense, the difference between a 110 and a 210 falls into the category of small potatoes. Yet good to know that my avionics wasn't needlessly over equipping the aircraft. Thanks for confirming this about the 110 Dan!
