Cool seat covers?
As we all know the cockpit of a DA40/42 can be a very warm place. Even with an OAT of 0˚C, if the sun is shining, the cockpit is warm. My wife is suggesting sheepskin seat covers to reduce the heat and perspiration of sitting on the leather seats in summer.
Does anyone have experience with any kind of seat covers and PIREPs on whether they helped in summer, in winter, etc?
Thanks!

Russ, the sheepskin covers work really well, and I would absolutely recommend them. There is no doubt in my mind they are better in both the summer and winter.

Re: Cool seat covers?
go for it , sheep skins are comfortable year round. you can sometimes find them on E bay. They are washable follow label instructions. I have used them on every airplane I have owned. You can get them new from Aero Sheep. around $600.00 a pair. They are great in the auto also.

Re: Cool seat covers?
Had sheepskins on my seats when I owned a DA40 for 4 years. Kept us warmer in the winter, cooler in the summer -- and made the seat cushions more comfortable year round. Sheepskins will also make it easier to get a good price for your plane if/when you decide to sell it, since the leather seats will show less wear and tear. Highly recommended.
FWIW, we just added sheepskins to our DA62.

Dave, If you ordered from AeroSheep, could you tell us what color was a reasonable match to your tan leather trim? Maybe Ivory?

Re: Cool seat covers?
AeroSheep sent me 5 sample colors, and I recall that Tan proved to be a perfect match for the beige/tan leather interior of our DA62. (If you can wait until this weekend when I get out to the hangar, I can check to be sure.)ultraturtle wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2019 4:29 amDave, If you ordered from AeroSheep, could you tell us what color was a reasonable match to your tan leather trim? Re: Cool seat covers?
I too strongly recommend the seat covers for both the warmth in the Winter and cooling effect in the Summer. Absolutely no complaints. I have them in both the front and back and I am very satisfied with he quality of the covers from Rocky Mountain Sheepskin. I purchased the grey covers as Rocky Mountain said they are far less resistant to fading over the years.
