For those who doubt that the nose wheel on the DA40 cants into the prop stream during flight, check out this new promo video from Diamond. Keep in mind this is a brand new plane, just off the factory floor... look at the sequence starting about 0:50 seconds in.

Re: Canted Nose Wheel
It seems that they didn’t adopt the Bret fin!
What is the problem of letting the wheel corked like this?
Drag?
Arnaud.

Re: Canted Nose Wheel
My right leg will testify to the cant. It rolls the plane left into a slip, necessitating right rudder to fly level.

Re: Canted Nose Wheel
Do a long cross country or two with a canted nose wheel and you will very much appreciate the BretFin. I have not had a canted nose-wheel since…

Re: Canted Nose Wheel
I never have to my legs during long cross country flights. So I conclude that my nose wheel is not corked !
Or this is due to the bending of the tab.

Re: Canted Nose Wheel
Ya seems canted to right and as explained in the Fin thread that's wrong and it should be to the left. Unfortunately, my home airport runway nearly always has crosswind from the left so I guess I'll need the Fin if I buy the NG. Wow spending half a million $ and need to buy a Fin... Hm...

Re: Canted Nose Wheel
Wait! Perhaps this is something Diamond can legally add and install for me with the purchase of a new NGFPKONE wrote: ↑Wed Jun 23, 2021 3:33 pm Ya seems canted to right and as explained in the Fin thread that's wrong and it should be to the left.
