Re: G1000 Legacy & NXi upgrade program
Thanks for the update; sounds like DA62’s being delivered in 2022 should have the Phase 3 features already baked in … I gather that “Phase 4” is more of a wishlist for DAN owners (also presumably for those who have Phase 2 hardware…)
Cheers

Re: G1000 Legacy & NXi upgrade program
I contacted Diamond back in April about the WAAS upgrade for my DA40. I was informed that there are no GIA63W units available at this time and as such Diamond is no longer accepting upgrade deposits. I was told that I would be added to a waiting list and would be contacted if units become available. I reached out again this week and was informed there was no change in the situation.
Those who are interested in the upgrade may want to make sure they express their interest to DIamond. It would seem that the WAAS upgrade may come to an end sooner rather than later. Seeing as there's no path to NXi for the DA40-180 at this time, and when there is it may well cost over $55k (based on DA62 upgrade pricing), I really hope I can snag a pair of GIA63Ws.

NXi upgrade, if it ever becomes available, will cost much much more.

The Nxi upgrade on the TBM was SO inexpensive I don't trust my memory on the number. I know it was less than ten grand.

Well… Daher/Socata is a company that has never orphaned aircrafts they produced. I used to own TB20 and have never had problems with spare parts or avionics upgrades. I can imagine situation with TMB can only be better.

Re: G1000 Legacy & NXi upgrade program
I just had the WAAS upgrade performed on my 2007 DA40 with GFC700. I did *not* have to replace the MFD and it seems this is an optional upgrade. This downside is that I won't be able to activate vertical path navigation for the flight director or AP, but everything else should work -- including coupled LPV, LNAV/VNAV and LNAV+V approaches.
There seems to be some confusion around this but the G1000 maintenance manual does state that the MFD upgrade is optional.

Re: G1000 Legacy & NXi upgrade program
Matt (mhoran) - did Diamond come through with the GIA63Ws for you or did you buy them through another channel? Glad you got the upgrade! I jumped in immediately when they announced and was upgraded earlier this year on my '04.

Re: G1000 Legacy & NXi upgrade program
I got them through another channel. Diamond wasn't sure when / if they'd get any more in stock, and it sounds like the waiting list is pretty deep at this point. Not sure where I was on the list, but it's moved by at least one at this point! Hopefully everyone who wants the upgrade can get it. I'm very happy that it worked out, and Glenn / SouthTec did a great job.

Re: G1000 Legacy & NXi upgrade program
I just wanted to update this question about 3 months later. Has anyone heard about how is "Phase III" is coming along?chili4way wrote: ↑Sun Jun 20, 2021 6:49 pm Joel, the latest information I have is the "Phase III" development and certification efforts are well underway. As previously noted in prior posts, Diamond's original intent was to complete these first for the DA62 and then the other models, with the goal of completing the first release later this year. Canadian/Ontario COVID restrictions, the vagarities of Transport Canada certification, Garmin's inscrutability on development projects, and Diamond's general reluctance to make firm schedule commitments make it impossible to know what the schedule will actually be. We do know this SW update will only be available to NXI planes with Phase II hardware.
