I’m in the market for a DA42 and came across a 2015 DA42 with Austro engine, legacy G1000, FIKI and GFC700 with ~1700 hours with no previous accident. What’s would be the fair market price for a unit like this

Re: Fair price for a DA42 IV
I find AOPA's Vref as a useful starting point for a conversation. Its far from perfect but not bad. My quick check on Vref say $780k. This does seem to reflect a significant increase in used plane prices in 2021. Stating the obvious, it is a sellers market and with 2 year wait times for a new DA62 (not sure where the queue is for DA42s), folks are ready to pay a significant premium for a decent plane available now.
Good luck!

Re: Fair price for a DA42 IV
For reference, I purchased my DA42-NG at the end of 2020 (13 months ago) for $590k. I believe it had been listed for $620k and includes FIKI, O2, legacy G1000, GFC700, WAAS, upgraded interior, etc. It had been upgraded from a TDI to an NG in 2016, so a lot of stuff was relatively new. There were about 775 hours on the Austros at the time and a little over 1500 hours on the airframe. I have no idea what it would fetch in today's market, though.

Re: Fair price for a DA42 IV
Price for the diamond aircraft has been soar lately from what I understand, but a 7 years old Diamond DA42 with legacy G1000 system asking for $900k is hard to justify.
I will keep on looking and hope to find a good unit with acceptable price range.

Re: Fair price for a DA42 IV
I agree. I ran a Vref and found the price for the Da42 did go up exponentially.
