Glory, Glory...

... was out flying this afternoon and was able to photograph some really nice Glories. I have seen them many times before as have many air travelers, but alas, never got a decent photo of one. The one today was actually a "double", a rainbow within a rainbow:

How they are formed is actually more complicated than I thought... :scratch:

From the second paper, they can also be seen on Venus, but my DA40 has only 40 gallon tanks, so that is a bit beyond my range... ;)

I love those. It's one of my wife's favorite things when we fly. With a sun setting behind us we flew INTO one once. (That's why we have super powers now.)
