Reading the recent DA62 MX cost thread, it appears the Austro Gearbox maintenance cost is unacceptably high.
I understand the part number has changed many times and at a guess, Austro are perhaps trying to improve the part. Is there someone here more educated than I who could articulate the history of revisions to the Gearbox (in recent years) and whether or not they are making a difference?
Are the "new" part revisions surviving inspections?

Re: Austro Gearbox Maintenance Cost
The gearbox has changed very little in several years, there are three different versions for the different model aircraft though. They are essentially the same but the 42 has an air cooler glued to the front of it and the 62 has a coolant cooler on the back.
The only real change comes from the fact that the original version didn't have a filter but this was before the DA62's time. The ones without filters didn't last long.
