The other elephant in the room is that much of the general public is misinformed about GA—in some cases openly hostile. Continuing to use leaded gas has been not just a talking point for them, but an actual argument used to try and shutdown GA and local airports.
This totally removes that arrow from their quiver.

In theory, Swift could also be coming along with its 100 UL solution. This will likely be a different formulation and will have to be shown to be mutually compatible with the GAMI UL, 100LL (and 100 lots-o'lead?). And of course, require yet another STC.
It looks like Swift is currently offering a $100 "forever" STC to cover the cost of any STC they might come up with in the future.

Great videos by Avweb's Paul Bertorelli on the long tortured history of leaded avgas

At the risk of brushing up against the political “no go zone”, I think it is safe to say the Transport Canada will take years to figure this one out. I think Diamond will leave it to owners to obtain the STC stateside.

I decided to get the Gami STC - $350 plus $20 shipping for a DA40. See https://stc.g100ul.com/ Gami is offering a $100 rebate with your first fill up if you buy it in January. It will probably be years before that occurs, however.

Did you buy the STC because you actually found a field where this is offered, or just anticipating?blsewardjr wrote: ↑Thu Jan 12, 2023 4:04 pm I decided to get the Gami STC - $350 plus $20 shipping for a DA40. I'm just anticipating. The bet may not pay off but I really want the benefits of UL on my engine so want to support this.

Hi guys. For the first time ever I used my admin privileges to remove a post that was entering into politics not related to the discussion. I would ask everyone to please stay on track with a healthy discussion on the thread topic. This BB is a great resource for us all. Let's keep it this way and not let it devolve into what the rest of social media has become.

Re: A very big deal -- FAA Approves G100UL for ALL GA piston spark-ignition aircraft
From this month's Aviation Consumer writeup on the state of things, the three fuels being developed by groups other than GAMI are not sounding promising. If they continue on the paths they are, none will really meet the expectations/requirements for a replacement fuel.
Market forces are the current impediment to broad distribution of the GAMI fuel. As much as we hate what's going on in California (and possibly now in Washington State), these efforts might help move the needle forward.
Anyone going to Sun 'n Fun or Oshkosh might make an effort to see what can be gleaned at these events.
As an aside, there was also a letter in the AC about the old bogeyman of lead being needed to keep valve seats from wearing out. Responded to nicely by the editor. Where I live here in boomer/codger-land I expect hear this kind of grumbling pick up steam when 100UL shows up.

In my opinion, the most personal and hopefully impactful thing that we as aircraft owners can do is PURCHASE the STC... Now! Show our appreciation for the 10-year+ effort that GAMI has put into this fuel.
