To be clear, if someone wants to do it, I would recommend contacting Diamond to find out if this is approved for older airframes.

A note on the Bowlus tape if you go with it--change it regularly, BEFORE it starts to get brittle or crack. Taking it off after a year in the desert is easily doable, but after a few years, it gets very brittle and needs to be scraped/chiseled off, a real pain. Reminds me... time for me to do that again.
