No. The SF is to be connected directly to the battery or the hot side of the master relay.dant wrote: ↑Fri May 19, 2023 5:05 pm Random question: I usually do the garmin DB updates while the engine is warming up to save a bit of time and battery, which requires cycling the battery/alternator to get the G1000 to reboot. I'm assuming this would have the effect of doing a "mag check", forcing the engine to run on the classic magneto?

Re: IRAN Right Magneto or Install SureFly?
How about mounting the left mag (with SlickStart disabled) in the right position ??
Both of my mags were at the 500 hour mark, so I had SureFly installed on the left side a month ago. The right mag will be dealt with during my annual which is scheduled a month from now at the end of July.
If the left mag can be used on the right side, I can have the previously removed left mag IRAN'ed now so it is ready to be installed at annual.
My shop and the mag shop said this *should* work, but I'd feel better with a more definitive answer up front.

More definitive? I'm flattered. With the SS not connected I agree this will work. Maintaining SS function into the (now) right magneto would also be feasible but require more wiring work.AirHog wrote: ↑Mon Jun 19, 2023 2:17 pmHow about mounting the left mag (with SlickStart disabled) in the right position ??

Question about Surefly operations -
If I accidentally hit the master switch OFF mid flight, will that turn off the Surefly?
I’ve accidentally done this more than once, reaching down to scratch my foot or something. It’s mildly disruptive as screens go blank and autopilot switches off. It would be very disruptive if the engine all of a sudden runs worse and plane slows down / climbs slower on the single tractor mag.

No. It's wired directly to the battery, one way or another. It is independently fused. Blowing that fuse requires a wire short or failure of the SF itself. Nothing you can do as a pilot to cause this.briankelly327 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 19, 2023 3:44 pm Question about Surefly operations -
