Data Path Failure

Post by gfuller »

I have been receiving data path failure on my g1000 . All of my data bases are up to date. This is not consistent and may come on , then it goes away. Any ideas?

Loose connection of either RS232 or ethernet cable is my first guess.

OK, maybe a failure of the SD card reader or the SD cards?

And still: if the ethernet cable is loose, you might get correct readouts from the connected devices and yet have a data path failure. I think. Not sure.

I had this happen -- there's an easy fix!

1. Lift carpet from baggage compartment floor behind rear seats to expose 4 Camloc screw fasteners

2. Loosen Camloc fasteners and remove square access panel in the baggage compartment floor. This will expose the G1000 equipment rack.

3. Remove one screw at the top of each G1000 LRU in the rack, and pull out all the LRUs (These include the transponder, 2 GIAs, and optional GDL-69A XM WX units).

4. Spray electrical contact cleaner on the contacts located at the bottom of the (now empty) G1000 equipment rack.

5. Put things back together and you're done. About a 10-minute job.

+1 on Dave's advice.

When I had this happen I was curious about why I was stil able to fly (and do everything else). There are multiple data paths and the G1000 is just letting you know that ONE of them is failed.

The shop yanked the boxes, shot cleaner in the bottom the rack, re-racked everything and it went away.

I had the same failure due to a bad sdcard. I threw it away and remade brand new ones and downloaded all data again. For making the datacard I will write a new article about it. You can buy the sdcards very cheaply on amazon here
