I paid $405 for the right window two years ago.

Wow, that is quite a difference and the right one is the one I need. Perhaps the Diamond Service Center at Long Beach was gouging me on parts, here is their estimate ($500 of total was for labor, so I guess a little shy of 5 hours to R&R it). I didn't have it done, but intend to replace it at some point, which if I could get it for what you paid would be now. This didn't cut and paste well but the bottom line is the window itself was $979.29 and this was last April, twice what you paid.

I believe Section 56-10-00 of the AMM covers both the canopy and windows replacement. It ain't fun removing.
I must somewhat correct myself, as the above reference is in the DA40 AMM and this is the DA20 forum. For those with a DA20 I can't find a similar procedure in the DA20 AMM. Nor do I see a SB for replacement. It would seem that the DA40 procedure would be at least somewhat applicable, assuming one can obtain the "transparency" as a separate part.

Would your aircraft insurance policy cover the canopy unless you were replacing it due to age/ scratches? I’ve known a few people with gliders that have cracked canopies for various reasons. Insurance seems to cover accidental damage. A friend of mine found a company in Florida that makes aircraft canopies, they were able to make him a custom canopy based on a drawing with dimensions. It came out looking good. I recall it was fairly cheap. Any glider repair shop who does a lot of composite work should be able to do the job.
