I think others know whatever German product Diamond recommends. I used 3M Marine Silicone Sealant which I used on my boats for my loose rubber gasket wing seal and it hasn't moved since. Buy it at West Marine or other retailers. It can be removed with appropriate 3M product.TomO wrote: ↑Fri Oct 30, 2020 1:32 am What is the wing gap strip adhesive?
May have missed it in reading the posts, but has anyone found out what adhesive Diamond uses to secure the rubber strip to the wing gap or canopy gap.
Tried all types of locally sourced silicon adhesives with good adherence to the paint but poor to no sticking to the rubber strip even after roughing with sandpaper. Contact cement is the same.
I can live with the tape on the wing gap but it will not work with the canopy.

Thanks
Certainly worth a try.
If it doesn’t work well on the plane, I can always use it on the sailboat.

Re: Rubber strip replacement
Hello,
Do any of you had problems to change this wing seal?
Mine has been replaced 4 years ago by my mechanic but it has not been installed correctly, as I had 5 meters spare I decided to do it myself with patience.
I managed to do the extrados of the left wing correctly (what was not the case of my mechanic), but the intrados of this same wing is purely impossible to fit. The gap is very narrow and even with silicon grease and patience it’s impossible.
Do you think that the gap can be different (a little) from one plane to another. As mine is an early bird, maybe it can be smaller?
To be able to fly, I placed a white film laminated with a PU transparent film and I hope it will last for 3 years before my next MSI because I guess that it is easier when the wings are off.
Any thoughts ?
Thanks.
Arnaud.

Re: Rubber strip replacement
A number of owners on the board (including me) used Sailplane Tape, a product for gliders, to go on top of the grey rubber material.

Re: Rubber strip replacement
This is what I was using on top of my grey rubber too, but I was hoping to succeed…
Do you think that sailplane tape alone is also an option?
Thanks.

Re: Rubber strip replacement
That is certainly not recommended by Diamond, so I don't think you could fly that way.

Re: Rubber strip replacement
What size sailplane tape are you using to cover the gray rubber on the wings?

Re: Rubber strip replacement
I did a detailed walk around of a brand new DA40-180 at the Diamond display at SunNFun. One of the things I noticed is that Diamond appears to be using glider tape on wing root. Here's a picture.
