Using glider tape is exactly what I used on my wing gap and it has worked fantastic. I cleaned the wing well, took my time applying it and it has lasted 2 1/2 years and 400 hours of flying and looks like new. DA40 owners often comment that they think it looks nice. And its very cheap and easily replaceable. I highly recommend.

This is the stuff I use on mine - it seems to last forever and matches the white almost exactly. I have a roll of the 2"-wide.

I believe Bernie is referring to the "loud vent noise" problem from the front air vents. People have found that covering one half of the air intake on each side substantially reduces the noise without diminishing much of the air flow. I have performed this mod on my DA40 and it definitely does make a difference in the ambient noise level when the vent is open. Another excellent use of the Bowlus tape! In my case, I cut a piece of fairly stiff plastic sheet and used the tape to secure it over the top half of the vent (or was it the bottom, I can't remember now). It's been there for many years now...
