I managed to purchase a pair of GIA63W and I’ll perform upgrade of my DA42-TDI early next year. I’ll probably use this opportunity to install FS210 and maybe GTX345 - ADS-B Out it’s not mandatory in Europe but enables aircraft to be sold at US market.

2) what is the trend regarding the number of WAAS approaches in Europe, esp at fields without commercial service?

1) I read that it was around 10% who actively maintain IR.
2) It’s increasing. France decommissioned ILS on many airports in favor of GPS approaches. On the other side UK lost WAAS due to Brexit.

GIA63W and KAP140 coupling works correctly for VOR, ILS and GPS. Vertical guidance for ILS and RNP approaches works correctly, including roll steering. FS210 works correctly and flight plan transfer is so nice feature - I don't know how I lived without it. GTX345 integration was a bit more challenging - after installation no ADS-B traffic was shown on G1000 and TAS traffic was shown only when aircraft was on the ground. However, ADS-B traffic was shown in Foreflight on iPad connected to GTX345 via BlueTooth. After few days of checking documentation and a day and a half of troubleshooting with Garmin, problem was solved and now everything works as expected.

The Flighstream gizmo is extremely cool. As avionics trinkets go, a really modest cost given its usefulness.

LPVs and flight plan transfer from iPad to the panel - both great! Enjoy!
