One thing to watch out for with Avidyne - an issue raised initially some years back. They offer a doubling of the length of the warranty in exchange for you agreeing to a rather egregious blanket immunity from liability on the part of Avidyne. This includes you defending Avidyne against any lawsuit that might come to pass regarding their equipment in your plane.

Be sure you carefully examine any T&C documents that wind up applying to your plane.

have you thought about a GTN650xi, there is an offer from Garmin now, 2k USD cashback for the 430, free FS510 and a free annual subscription for the database
Thomas, I’ve thought about going with a full Garmin cockpit, but after flying behind the Avidyne products I’ve found that I really like those better. Plus, the 440 is a slide in to my existing 430s, so there will be minimal labor involved in the install. Also, I really like Avidyne’s IFD 100 app that fully integrates with the radios and their Bluetooth wireless keyboard as well.

I appreciate the suggestion, though!

I’ll keep an eye out for that and will post the T&C dox on here if able for others to reference.

For the sake of before/after, here’s a photo of my panel as is right now. I’m sure it will look very familiar to a lot of ya’ll.

Touch screens? I'd assume the technology nowadays would provide a non/low reflective touchscreen LCD display so that the oily smug wouldn't be a factor. But, boy, those smudgy marks drive me nuts

My plane (serial 40.208) is merely 2 later than yours. We chose additional options, so it looks slightly different:

The only visible changes since delivery are a transponder swap (KT74 ADS-B out) and replaced the mag compass with one mounted in the panel. The inclusion of autopilot (side effect; HSI) and GNS530 dictated that the transponder be moved over to the lower right. I believe the panels for this period (2002-2004) are the most vertically compact. Not a lot of room for adding stuff, only changing.

Bryan:

The picture is of a USMC bird, so it is bound to have oily smug. :D
As to the screen technology, what do you expect for a mere $70 million per airframe?
