CD135 &155 main bearing cap studs SB DEC18
Hello,
New SB issued yesterday, requires the main bearing cap studs to be replaced at continental’s facility for a number of engines SN.
http://www.tmg-service.de/doc-download/ ... g_Caps.pdf
Any one else lucky enough to draw a winning SN ? (I’ve got two)
Would be interesting to discuss warranty coverage and turnaround time at the manufacturer facility.
Best,
Salim

Do you have an idea is it related to newer or older engines (I don't have my serial number here so I can't check)? My engines are CD-155 (TAE 125-02-114) manufactured 2017 and installed 2018 and I have some 320 hours on them.

I don’t know for sure, but my SNs (05028&9) are at the beginning of the third tier of the list, and they were installed in nov 2019, probably manufactured earlier in 2019

It looks like newer engines have been affected. I’m checking mine with service shop.

Our CD 155 is serial no. 11053 and was installed in June 2019. So production most probably Q1 2019. Luckily we are not affected, although some earlier serial numbers are affected.

I got feedback - as assumed, my engines are not affected.

Re: CD135 &155 main bearing cap studs SB DEC18
This SB is probably the result of an engine failure we had in September, 2020. Our pilot was flying at 2.500 FT over water in the southern part of the Netherlands when he experienced a complete engine failure. Luckily, he was able to make a successful off-field landing.
The initial finding was that the crankshaft had broken between the two cylinders closest to the firewall. The engine was sent to Continental for further study. We aren’t in the loop on the details of the investigation, but our s/n was among those listed on the SB.
Our engine was manufactured in early 2019. At the time of the incident, we had less than 200 hours flight time on the motor. It was the CD-155/TAE 125-02-114 version.
I guess the message is that engine failure resulting from this problem is not hypothetical.

From what I could tell all the affected engines are late 2017 and on

Hello gvzdus,
When did you send it ?
Did they commit on a turnaround time ?
