Re: DA62 Mx Intervals
Dave and John, I'm contemplating flying all the way to the east coast just to have mx work done at your shops. I haven't had an annual done for less than $17k on our 42-VI and the worst has been 40k. Last one came out at a smooth $32k because one of the two props showed delamination and needed an OH (both props were ~16k to OH)
Maybe it's more flight hours than others? We used to average ~280/year with lots of downtime during the pandemic. It's sort of trending back to that now.
Jonathan, things that can rain on your parade will be TVD or gearbox failures during inspection. The gearbox is a 10k slug. And every inspection we've had to do has found a gearbox making metal or a TVD failing the inspection.

Shop price for parts and labor was around $1100 for this a couple years ago. We do them ourselves now.

I've already performed owner assisted annuals on my previous DA40 and DA42 aircraft, so there wasn't that much more for me to learn by also participating in a DA62 annual. And since there's nobody local to do the annual, I've had to drop off my DA62 out-of-town where I'm not around to "help."

Re: DA62 Mx Intervals
I'm probably one of the only DA62 owners that does his own 100, 200, etc.-hour service including oil and filter changes. Even though I'm not an A&P, I've been through the week-long Diamond maintenance training class.
If you're concerned about the legality of this, you might find Mike Busch's recent Oshkosh AirVenture 2021 presentation on owner-provided "Preventative Maintenance" to be helpful:

Re: DA62 Mx Intervals
Oh I'm not concerned about that at all -- I think it's fantastic.
I just misunderstood your post:
I recently had to go through another 100 hr service (Part 91), and tried Aero City Maintenance in Long Beach -- and had a great experience all things considered. But given that you mentioned that you had been able to do your annuals for 1/2 the cost of jb... I was curious to know what shop you've worked with that you felt treated you well.

I was curious what shops you used. My first annual was done by Absolute Aero in February of this year -- they also completed the NXi Phase 2 upgrade. I was not totally satisfied with the service there. My DA62 annuals have been performed by maintenance shops without owner assistance.

SouthTec Aviation in Salisbury, NC (KRUQ) performed my last 2 annual DA62 inspections.

Re: DA62 Mx Intervals
Re Gear box cost. here is a line from an invoice I have for work on my aircraft dating from before I bought it so early 2020:
E4A-70-000-000 ASSY GEARBOX 1.00 12,895.0700
That's AUD so USD = $9,700 before taxes.
