I think it's a quirk of the forum software (or maybe the Javascript method used) that it checks the original size of the photo before trying to resize/upload it.If photos are auto-resized, then doesn't that mean nobody should ever get an error message?
Given that we can easily afford more disk space these days, I've increased the attachment size limits across the forum by 2-3x. I'll probably bump it up again once I get a feel for how well things are working with the photos.
