Signed the order form today

Post by mdiprima1 »

After a demo flight in the morning I signed the order form for a 2023 DA62. I am very excited. Now I have to get me ME rating and a hangar in Florida.

There is only one thing I was disappointed with - the AC performance. I hope Diamond will upgrade it with a more powerful unit. We had 82F ambient temperature and it never really cooled down the cabin.

But besides this I am excited!!!

Thanks to all the great posts in this forum. I am looking forward to be part of the diamond community.

Someone should make a better AC unit that owners can swamp in.

"Swamp in"? Freudian slip... ;)

But I totally agree with you that the 62 needs a better a/c; the aftermarket a/c in my A36 Bonanza runs circles around it. I wonder if the 62's overhead plenum is big enough to carry the CFM necessary to really do the job. Those tiny vents in the front row are just silly.

The same RACC II unit is used in the DA62, DA42, and DA40NG -- with the same cooling capacity. JetShades help somewhat to reduce the solar heat gain that the air conditioner must overcome.

If your situation changes, can you sell your position for more than the deposit? I was told 5% down when you place an order that's 2 years out.

I suppose one could try. My sales contract is under my name and "or assigns." But the spirit of that is for me to assign the sale to an LLC or trust, not another person. If needs/circumstances changed that much, you'd be better off taking delivery then selling on the open market. Personally, I'd be skeptical of buying ones position in line if someone presented me that offer.
