O-Ring wrong position on oil dipstick

Post by robert63 »

Just recently we found out that the O-ring on the oil dipstick of both engines was not on its correct position. See attachment.
Instead to be in its groove it was where the thread starts. This might cause oil leakage. Better check on your engines before the next flight.

This is interesting. I remember when I got my plane, the oil cap would "spin free" once it was tightened. Now it stops turning. I'm wondering if this is because the O-ring slipped back to where the thread starts. Should the oil cap spin freely once it's fully tightened, if the O-ring is in the correct position?

Thank you

No, it doesn’t spin free. Not with the O-ring in the right position and not with the ring in the wrong position.
