Re: New DA62 x words of wisdom from seasoned owners
For DA62 customers choosing between 5-seater vs. 7-seater (with 3rd row seating) options:
In the past, if you ordered a 5-seater or 7-seater DA62 built in Canada, it came equipped with all the headset, O2, A/C outlets, etc. for 7 seats -- so you could later convert it from 5 to 7 seater by replacing the cargo tray with 3rd row seats.
However if you order a 5-seater built in Austria, the 3rd-row headset and O2 outlets are not included, and a smaller O2 tank is installed. This helped increase useful load on the plane -- that if flown in Europe -- would be certified to only 1999 kg to avoid ATC fees. But you can't later convert one of these Austrian 5-seat aircraft to a 7-seater by replacing the cargo tray with 3rd row seats.
So...if you order a 5-seater, make sure you never want to convert your plane to a 7-seater. For North American customers, it's "luck of the draw" whether you're getting an Austrian vs. Canadian-built DA62, since Diamond is ferrying multiple Austrian-built DA62s to the Canada factory in order to meet greater demand for the DA62 in North America.
If you think you might want to convert your seating, order the 7-seater along with the optional 5-seater's cargo tray (uninstalled).

I'm thinking that's the color I'm going to get. Initial deposit goes in tomorrow morning for a Q1 2024 position!

Re: New DA62 x words of wisdom from seasoned owners
Mine is still classified at the higher wait. But in practicality I think I will almost never use the back row and the weight saving and practicality of extra cargo space won it over for me.
That having been said I hope it won’t adversely impact the resale price.

That's great. I'm curious to see how much the increase will be, and if they'll do another increase before July 1.

FYI, the January 15, 2022 price increase on new DA62s is a little more than 5% -- similar to other Diamond models.
