Crazy Pricing?

Post by smoss »

There is a 2010 DA40 with 2,175 hours on original engine for sale with a price of $335,000! Is this the realistic range for the value of a used DA40 now? Talk about inflation. Should we all be dramatically increasing our hull values for our insurance?

That price for a 2010 DA40 XLS with 2175 hours and non-overhauled engine in this tight market might be considered appropriate.

FYI, I'm aware of a 2007 DA40 XL (like yours) without WAAS that recently sold for nearly $300K. So yes, I would suggest increasing your hull value appropriately.

Wow. I bumped up to 260k on our 2007 after having WAAS installed. I guess I need to bump again.

Short of working with a knowledgeable broker when you're ready to sell, if you belong to AOPA you can access VREF online for free to determine your plane's approximate value.

VREF may be low however, since it's still "playing catch-up" to increasing prices of DA40s.

Thanks for the tip as I did not know about that AOPA benefit. But when I tried it, they did not list the DA40NG.

Thank you, can you tell me how to interpret each column?
I’m not sure to understand correctly

As another data point, I had vRef do a recent appraisal of my 2001 DA40, with approximately 800 TTAF. It came back at $225K.
