Electric boost pump

Post by Leesommer »

Well my electric boost pump was making some noise. Had a check during annual everybody said it was okay. That was last week. Today I put the Boost pump on to start it and the 5:00 amp circuit breaker popped. Every time I try to start the pump in a circuit breaker pops. I'm thinking we have a bad pump. Does anybody have a recommendation on what model pump or what manufacturer would be suitable thank you

I think most people (including me) ultimately swap out the Duke fuel pump for a Weldon pump when the Duke fails.

Well, no :D It’s an obnoxious chore, but doable.

Well on that note I guess I'll reach out to my mechanic and have him do it.

The fuel pump is located on the bottom of the plane in a compartment right next to the center fuel drain down. The silver metal shield just behind the nose gear needs to be removed to access the pump. A picture of the compartment with the (failed) Duke fuel pump still installed on my DA40 is included below.

This really is not something the owner/pilot would be authorized to change. When mine failed, I had my mechanic come out to the hangar to swap it out for the replacement Weldon.

Yep, the 18002-B is 24/28 volt and is the one for DA40s - see the attached Weldon-APP-Guide.
