Run up Oil Temperature
I routinely after start up make sure my oil temp is 95 degrees F, before I go through the run up. I lean after start up. The taxi takes care of part of the oil temp rise, but when it is colder after preheat or not can sit on the taxiway for a few minutes until oil gets to 95. My fine wire spark plugs that I clean and rotate at oil change are normally carbon free. Wondering what is the routine for other DA-40 Lycoming owners. Thanks all.

Re: Run up Oil Temperature
I wait until oil temperature is >=75 degrees and CHT >= 250 degrees. Summertime startup oil temperature is > 75 degrees. My taxi is quite short, so when I do the runup, I'm waiting mainly for the CHT to reach threshold. Don't believe that there is any magic number, my thresholds are what I was taught many years ago.

Re: Run up Oil Temperature
Basically the same except I wait until 100* F and I often have to wait quite a while. Startup to launch is usually ~15 minutes for me to get everything done.
If the idle is smooth after the runup I take off even if the oil temp isn't all the way up in to the green. It takes forever.

Re: Run up Oil Temperature
Running 100W+ I will get an over pressure alert if my oil temp is lower than around 95

Re: Run up Oil Temperature
I look for 95 and climbing. In cold weather it requires a little extra time, plus I use the baffle. The oil is in the green by the time you take off.
