Current have 480 hrs on our 2017 da-62 , and as i anticipate our 600 hr inspection and i see some of the required ( or i guess recommended for part 91 usage) items for replacement and i wonder why? Have there been failures that have initiated them? I am somewhat familiar w the MB 4 cylinder TC engines in automobiles and they seem to run damn new forever ..
So , just curious about the flywheel and fuel railunits that are to be replaced at 600 hr??

Re: 600 hr items
Austro engines (all of them: AE300 aka E4, and AE330 aka E4P) have always required the high-pressure fuel pumps to be replaced at 600 hours, presumably because they're so critical to engine operation, and because of the very high pressures required by the common fuel rail.
But I don't understand why the flywheels need to be replaced on DA62 AE330/E4P engines, but not on DA40 or DA42 Austro engines (which only need to be removed and inspected). There's only a 5% difference in power output/torque on the DA62's engines.

What were your inspection failure rates on the 42s though historically? I never tallied it but my gut feeling is that 1/3 fail. If that's really the case then I can see why they'd say to just replace it if it makes it past the second round.
