GFC700 Disconnect

Post by VickersPilot »

Has anyone else had the AP disconnect with no aural warning? I’ve had it happen at least twice now. The most recent time was during an ATC transmission, I don’t know if perhaps that could have muted it.

Second point, I believe ‘Autopilot Disconnected’ voice annunciation would be far safer than a random beep. Perhaps the DAN6 could include this request in future software releases.

I haven't had it disconnect with no warning. However, I do know that if you you hit the disconnect button on the stick, and then hit it again, it will mute the disconnect warning.

Thanks Boatguy - good to know there is a condition that silences the disconnect. Perhaps I rubbed off the button twice - will observe.

I had random silent disconnects when my A/P disconnect button started to fail. I assume that vibration or turbulence was causing the switch to trigger occasionally with a "double click". Eventually it failed such that I couldn't engage the A/P at all, which was a lot more expensive to diagnose than it was to fix.

We also had the AP disconnect switch fail on us twice. Usually never made it past the self test at startup.

First time was a goose chase. Second time, it was the first thing we checked. $15 part or something like that.
