Very cool!

With that practice, now you can consider flying into the next Burning Man. :)

A friend of mind did that with his C180. He ended up shrink wrapping his plane to protect it from the blowing dust and sand.

The Black Rock (during Burning Man or any off-season time) is even worse than that... rather than nice normal sand, it's ultra-fine gypsum. I've landed there... but only right seat in someone else's plane 8-). Years ago we (actually our 8 year old son) drove our motor home on the playa... never, ever was able to completely get the gypsum powder out of the vehicle.

Rental car places in the Bay area have a charge and warnings about the charge for visiting Burning Man.

That made me unwilling to land my plane there. I saw a TBM did it and was all taped up with blue painters tape, which was clever.

There is a great one is SE Oregon also, Alvord Desert. Amazing place to overnight. At 45yo it is the only place I've been in my entire life where there is literally no sound. Did an overnight with my two boys...just the stargazing alone was incredible. Amazing experience.
