Gearbox oil level

I just got my DA40NG back from its first annual/100 hour maintenance, and one difference I have noted was that the gearbox oil window now shows no air bubble and is completely full. The gearbox oil has always previously been about 1/2 way up the little window previously, so obviously when the gearbox oil was replaced they must have added more than before. My question: Is there such a thing as overfilling the gearbox?

There certainly is such a thing, but not seeing a bubble is normal when the plane comes back from MX. If you had your plane serviced at a DASC (Diamond Authorized Service Center), it was almost certainly topped off to the correct level.

I think it was changed few years ago to “no bubble”.

Interestingly after a couple of flights there is now a tiny air bubble at the top of the gearbox window. This makes verifying there is gearbox oil much more simple.
