Quebec City Recommendations

Any helpful hints about flying to Quebec City? It seems like CYQB (Jean Lesage International Airport) is the only nearby option that is an Airport of Entry, and I'm having trouble identifying a GA-friendly FBO.

I completed 2 trips to Canada (from USA) in the last month. Happy to assist you with any questions via PM.

Please share if you don't mind.

My wife really wants to fly to Quebec City but the comments from YQB are discouraging. We are also looking at Halifax and PEI.

I've also been wanting to fly to Quebec City before it freezes over again for the winter. I've got my customs sticker, my radio license, and I'm just looking for the right weekend. Would love any recommendations as well. Where did you see the negative comments at YQB?

Foreflight though admittedly many of the negative reviews are quite old. Generally expensive and not necessarily GA friendly. There is a recent one that is very positive. It would be nice to get a PIREP from someone on DAN.

It's been a few years now, but we flew our DA42 to Quebec City (with its only FBO) during the month of September -- when daytime temperatures were nice in the 70s F -- and had a marvelous 4-day visit walking around sightseeing and eating in restaurants in the city. Highly recommended.

Greg Bell just flew through the area with his wife in their DA40 (from KPAE). They published a few utube videos. Might be worth a look.

CNV9 is one of the nicest small fields we have ever flown into. It is right out of the Lesage control area. Very welcoming people. Read the Foreflight reviews. Also brief the local VFR procedures.

I would not go to Lesage. Tons of attitude, even with the controllers.

Quebec City is a wonderful destination - have fun.

CNV9 Neuville is a terrific GA airport. No customs but if you can clear first, it is a very short flight from CYQB. Call ahead for preferred guest tiedown. A bit of a taxi/uber ride into the city but well worth it. You do not need a car once in the city. Bring your appetite!
