I’m in need of a new wastegate and associated clamps / hoses. Austro’s policy is that they only ship out same day before 10am (and charge €300 for the privilege!).

Are there any shops that might have one in stock and can ship today?

Sorry for the unhelpful answer but we are curious to know more about how the problem manifested itself. Loss of power in flight, ECU fail on start-up?

ECU fail on takeoff when I applied 100% power. It happened pretty fast after power application, so I just aborted the takeoff.

If I can offer my rant on Austro, they have a pretty insane (from an American perspective) way of handling spare parts.

You can either place a normal order (ships out next day), or you can place an AOG order before 10a (8a Friday), and it ships out same day. They charge 20% premium (min €300) for AOG orders.

Absolutely insane when you compare to someone like Aircraft Spruce where you can order before 4p and get something overnight shipped for no additional charge (other than freight).

From the data download, is it a momentary spike in boost pressure that triggers the ECU fault?

It’s consistent and repeatable, not just a spike. The shop in Madrid spent quite some time on the phone with Austro diagnosing it. The wastegate actuator is definitely busted.

A Feb '21 work instruction WI-MSB-E4-029 (visible in the customer section of the Austro Engine website) describes the installation of a pressure restrictor intended to address the wastegate controller failure. The kit has five parts for each engine: one restrictor AEP-00361 and four hose ties (E4A-41-300-803).

I've also noted a new release of the ECU software from July 2022.

Perhaps this is old news to you, and the restrictor was already been performed on your engines -- or the shop in Spain noticed this and included it with your WGA order. I hope you get back in the air soon.

Just extremely frustrated with Austro on their parts ordering process! I guess I’ve gotten spoiled with Aircraft Spruce, but it seems crazy to me that same day delivery has a 10a cutoff, and the company shuts down at noon on Fridays!

But I guess that’s just the European way…
