G1000 NXi missing RNAV approach
Today I had a flight from Yakima, WA (KYKM) to Wenatchee, WA (KEAT). The Jeppessen approach plates for KEAT show RNAV Z Rwy 30. However, the G1000 in my DA62 did not have this approach. For runway 30, it only had RNAV Y Rwy 30. There is no Jeppessen approach plate for the RNAV Y. All databases are up to date. Has anyone encountered this issue before? Or any insight into what the issue is?

FWIW ForeFlight with non-Jepp charts only has the Z approach. I can’t comment on the nav data in my navigators.

You might double-check the database in the G1000. The Z approach (and several others) for the current cycle are marked as having been changed - according to the AOPA rendition of procedures for KEAT.

Thanks, Rich. Perhaps the next Nav update will fix this. The next Nav database update is effective on Thursday, March 23.

Re: G1000 NXi missing RNAV approach
The RNAV (RNP) 30 is an RNP approach, not an RNAV (GPS) approach. I don't believe the G1000 can fly that approach which is probably why it is not in the DB.

Russ is correct. The G1000 can’t do RNP which includes curved approaches (RF or radius-to-fix) like you see at KEAT. Also, even if it could, it can’t do RNP < 0.3.

Re: G1000 NXi missing RNAV approach
I hadn't picked up on the RNP thing. It brings up an interesting subject. Since the only RNAV approaches to this airport now require RNP, folks like us would have to rely on the ILS or VOR approaches. I have to wonder how common this might become. Because an interesting development is that it's starting to become common (especially in the experimental world) to not include NAV radio capability at all in their planes. I doubt these folks are RNP capable/authorized.
I haven't had a chance to look. What does the (now decommissioned?) RNAV Y look like?

I can't find anything online about the RNAV Y Rwy 30. Next time I'm in the airplane I will pull it up and take a picture of what I see.

Re: G1000 NXi missing RNAV approach
Thought I'd shoot this "radius to fix" approach in the sim (X-Plane 12, C172/G1000)...

Re: G1000 NXi missing RNAV approach
KEAT only has RNP-AR approaches (besides ILS/VOR). The important point here is the "AR" thing - authorization required. The G1000 can fly RF legs just fine, like in the KCRQ RNAV X 24. However, if the approach has an RF leg inside the FAP, it becomes AR. There are things that will make them AR as well.
The RNP 30 approach into KEAT has RF legs inside DOOGI (FAP), and the missed approach is also an RF leg.
There's lots of regulations to fly -AR approaches, similar to ILS cat 2 and 3. The equipment and the crew must be certified and current. They require an actual flight management system, with inertial navigators, fully redundant autopilots (dual servos), etc. Definitely not GA stuff.
