Elevator trim tab hinge pin

Post by wjunius »

I am stupid and pushed my tail into my hangar door. This broke the elevator trim tab hinge pins. I found the part in the IPC and had the set of 2 fiberglass rods overnighted. Upon attempting install, I found a few issues:

1. The safety wire configuration appears to be impossible to replicate.

2. The new fiberglass rods can be inserted about an inch before there is so much friction I am worried about breaking the rods. The old ones slide in and out easily. It appears that the new rods are very slightly larger in diameter than the old ones.

3. The new rods appear to be much longer than the originals.

I put in a ticket with Diamond Canada as the tech on the phone had never seen this issue before.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
