Hi all! Trying to connect foreflight to my 2020 da42 nxi and it will connect to Bluetooth but doesn't give me the import icon on the iPad. Am I to assume I need the SD card adapter for 1500.00 to let the iPad talk to the g1000. I suppose it connects to garmin pilot easier than foreflight?

I think you need the FS510 to connect to Foreflight or Garmin Pilot. It makes it so easy to transfer flight plans it's well worth the expense. And you can access ATIS from your iPad, not just from your panel. The FS510 should be considered mandatory equipment.
However, the wireless DB update through the FS510 is way too slow. I still use SD cards for the DB updates.

Just a FYI, FS510 was not available in the DA42 until MY2021 as an upgradable option. In MY2023, it became a standard item.

Do you mean available from Diamond, or available at all? The Diamond NXi software hasn't changed in over four years. The FS510 card can be purchased from a DSC or from an avionics shop.FlyingPenguin wrote: ↑Thu Apr 13, 2023 4:35 am Just a FYI, FS510 was not available in the DA42 until MY2021 as an upgradable option. From Diamond Aircraft when you spec and order a plane. I assume it could be installed as an after sales items. Sorry for the confusion.Boatguy wrote: ↑Thu Apr 13, 2023 3:50 pmDo you mean available from Diamond, or available at all? The Diamond NXi software hasn't changed in over four years. Re: G1000nxi
What matters is if the version of G1000 NXi software you're running in your DA42NG supports the FlightStream 510 SDcard, and if it does, is it enabled in the software configuration (requires a Garmin tech to do this using your software loader card)? If you have the NXi Phase II hardware with the newer GMA 1360 audio panel, then for sure you have the correct G1000 NXi hardware for a FS510 SDcard.
