DA62 iPad Mount
Is anyone using the factory iPad mount in the DA62?
What size iPad?
Does it obscure the view?

Re: DA62 iPad Mount
I use the iPad mount. I experimented with a full size iPad at first. The full size iPad was too big and bulky. I settled on the new iPad mini with a Pivot mount and it works great. It is the perfect size and the Apple Pencil is attached to the iPad. This mount makes it easy and quick to install and remove the ipad.

Using the new Ipad mini and factory mount. Perfect size and fits nicely.
Larger ipad is too big for me too, as Wayne pointed out.

Re: DA62 iPad Mount
Best would be the iPad mini. But I also used the full sized iPads and it worked but you don't see the whole panel anymore.
The factory fitted mount is in my opinion the best one. On the DA42s you can forget the factory mount.

Re: DA62 iPad Mount
It does fit an 11" iPad pro provided you keep the thing more or less vertical. Works just fine for me.
While we are at it: the CFRP of the DA62 shields any cellular signal quite nicely. Has anyone tried to mount an external antenna such as the RAMI-289 for better reception? If so, did that make a noticable difference?

Re: DA62 iPad Mount
I use an 11' IPad Pro as well. Vertical mount with the RAM double socket arm. Allows the 11" iPad to be positioned up and to the left (the door when closed barely touches the upper left side of the RAM mount. I like the larger size as it allows for a nearly full size plate to be displayed on approaches very near my field of view. In this position, it really only obscures the TKS panel (but I can easily look around to see that too).
I also use a Sentry device mounted on the co-pilot window. This is redundant to the FlightStream card in the Garmin panel which also supplies AHRS and ADS-B info but provides a belt and suspenders source of navigation info should the Garmin ever go completely dead.

Re: DA62 iPad Mount
Thank you everyone!
Norm: One thing you get from the FS510/panel that I'm not sure if you get from the Sentry is D-ATIS. It's only at about 75 airports, but it's pretty nice to get the full ATIS without having to listen to the radio on two frequencies (even with the 3D audio) when in busy airspace. But having an AHRS backup is certainly a good idea.

Re: DA62 iPad Mount
Yes, it's an iPad mini 6. I use the RAM mount with the medium arm.
Get also an angled USB-C cable, otherwise your knee will hit the connector and damage the outlet. Don't ask me how I know.
