Flysto
Does anybody know what is going on with Flysto.net? I have tried three different browsers and none of them connect. Two give a warning "Attackers might be trying to steal your information from flysto.net (for example, passwords, messages, or credit cards)."

Re: Flysto
It looks like https://www.flysto.net may be working but https://flysto.net has an expired security certficate. Most likely a configuration error on their server or in DNS, but it's possible that something more nefarious is going on since they go to different servers.Ed McDonald wrote: Mon Jun 10, 2024 12:57 am Does anybody know what is going on with Flysto.net? I don't have an account there yet so I don't know if logging in would work.

Re: Flysto
It's the anniversary of their domain renewal; sometimes, the hosting renewal is on the same date. It may be related to that; some ISPs are pretty aggressive about reducing service if they don't correctly record their fees in their accounting database. See https://who.is/whois/flysto.net. for the domain information. I've had some of my less-used domains suffer similar problems when I've paid but not given them the exact details they need to allocate the payment.

Re: Flysto
I used it yesterday with no problem. Today I just logged out and back in, working fine with Safari.

Re: Flysto
Indeed it is. I uploaded most all of my flights (as G1000 records of ~1000 flights over the past 9 years) to FlySto and here are some sample "Insights":

Re: Flysto
I’m interested in Fastow. Can someone share with us how it makes you a better pilot? In other words, how do you use the data?

Re: Flysto
Assuming you mean FlySto, for pilot improvement, I'd summarize it as:
1) The ability to replay any segment of any flight and see what happened, versus what you remember or think happened. You'll see a simulation of your panel and the view outside using the actual data recorded from the flight. This establishes the facts, versus your memory.
2) Additionally, instead of the view out the front, you can see the data presented graphically, for example your actual altitude and speed versus a 3˚ descent.
3) You can compare an individual flight to all of your flights, and to all the flights for your make/model that have been uploaded by others. For example on a given flight say you landed 3' left of the centerline, your average is 1' right, and the fleet's average is 1.5' left.
That's a very brief summary. It has enormous depth and analysis, as well as traffic and weather information. And you can customize "alerts" so if you wanted to flag all your flights where you were slow in the pattern, you could set a speed range and it would flag all those flights where your speed was in the range you set. It's a very powerful tool for post flight briefing.
The engine analysis can also make you a better pilot. If you had an engine problem in flight, you can review it later and see exactly what happened in your engine, and how you responded.
