Note to self
Flying over the cascades it's a good plan to hook up and turn on the O2D2 and mount the cannula and all. But you also need to open the damn valve on the O2 tank.

Glad you're OK!
Pre covid I did a check out flight in a T182T and the instructor had me take off O2 at 17k feet "so I could experience hypoxia". 7 minutes later with no ill effects he said "this is weird, put your O2 back on".
Post covid I can feel my fingers get numb at 11k without O2. Frustrating.

I wear my Inogen any time flying over 10K. Once the far end of the cannula popped off the unit at 12K, now I'm much more attuned to receiving my "bollus" and check my pulse ox every few minutes.

If I stay in aviation after this year I'll probably pick up an inogen. Filling O2 tanks is such a PITA and places don't seem to fully fill the kevlar tanks.

As it happens, getting my tank filled is free and convenient, as Mountain High is nearby at KRDM

Yes, I have an Aerox 4 place system that was great to use. But I was always hunting for places to fill, and some places were outrageous. KVGT charged me $115 to fill a small bottle. My Inogen never runs low so it is always available. I fill my Aerox at a scuba diving center that has trimix equipment which can do pure O2. Costs about $15 USD for a 22 cu. ft. tank. All that's needed is a special adapter that I bring with my tank. They also do the periodic pressure tests when needed.
