Help. Anyone have VM1000 EGT probes?
One of my VM1000 EGT probes has failed. I wondered if anyone who has switched to other systems has retained any I could buy. They have this odd connector that doesn’t seem to come with any I can find.

Re: Help. Anyone have VM1000 EGT probes?
Have you reached out to JPI to see if they can still support the Vision system?
Other than the connector, is the probe proprietary? In other words, is it a standard Type K EGT probe with a unique connector?
You might also want to go onto the Vansairforce.net forum and ask. I frequently see builders getting rid of their VM1000 system and converting to something more modern and supportable - so they may well have probes, etc. laying around. If the part numbers are the same, being used previously on an experimental should not matter.

I'll be checking with JPI today. But the last time I replaced one that had been sourced from JPI it had to be tweaked in some manner to fit. It's just a type K but getting the connector attached is not so obvious.

I'm thinking the actual connectors are not VM1000, but what Diamond chose to use. I see a number of connector kits like this available but not necessarily this exact model. Any insights?

Rich: I have seen VM-1000 EGT sensors on eBay:Rich wrote: Wed Oct 29, 2025 1:36 pm I'll be checking with JPI today. But the last time I replaced one that had been sourced from JPI it had to be tweaked in some manner to fit. It's just a type K but getting the connector attached is not so obvious.

They are the same as our sensor, but as you mentioned, have different connectors. I bought one a while ago to have as a spare, it has a different connector. I vaguely recall that thermocouple connectors and wires are type specific - using the wrong type will result in inaccurate temperature readings. I suppose that as long as you can salvage the presently used connector and crimp on some new pins (assuming they are available) you should be successful.
I think about this issue, as my EGT sensors are original, which means they are 24 years old!

Re: Help. Anyone have VM1000 EGT probes?
It wouldn't be the worst thing to use a different connector pair for this one than is current. It doesn't have to match the others, though that would inhibit somewhat the switching of probes for hypothetical future troubleshooting.

Re: Help. Anyone have VM1000 EGT probes?
I wonder if Diamond has any of the old-style connectors in the parts bin? Might be worth a phone call...

Re: Help. Anyone have VM1000 EGT probes?
Thanks, Steve. This looks like the right one, but I need the other half. The half shown is on the VM1000 side. Trying to find that other half.
