Re: NG40 VS IO-360 real user pros and cons appreciated

Looks like Diamond has sold some new DA40-180 XLTs as trainers -- http://aero-news.net/index.cfm?do=main.textpost&id=9007cd79-e1a2-45a5-b307-6ad483dc3f7b Thanks for posting. It is good to hear that Diamond is now producing airframes with the L-180 again. I just might have to replace my 2010 with on...

Home, Sweet Home. Here is a sunset shot just after departing Torrance Airport, where I am based. Photo is Palos Verdes, CA where I live and Catalina Island is on the horizon. Photo taken at 1500 feet MSL.

Re: DA40 in Central California

If you can get down to KTOA, seven miles south of LAX, I would be happy to show you mine. Just full disclosure. I have owned four factory new DA 40's since I started flying in 2003, so I guess you could say I am a Diamond Star fanboy. If interested, PM me.

Re: A Taste of Autopilot on Return from Kern Valley

Shortly after purchasing my first Diamond Star back in 2003, my wife decided that she should learn how to land the plane. So she signed up for a 10 hour pinch hitting course at our local flight school at KTOA. After just a few hours in the cockpit, she really started to get into flying the airplane....

Re: Rubber strip replacement

BTW, the photo below brought to mind. The only thing I found that cleans the rubber strip in front of the canopy and the caulking rings around the widows and canopy is Plexus. Restores it to looking like new again. Use an old toothbrush and it works like a charm.

Would not the factory have the replacement part for this?

Re: Best West Coast fly-in spots

KAVX, Catalina Island. They have a restaurant on the field. Also, they have a shuttle that goes to the city of Avalon if you want lodging and sea/land tours. My wife and I fly over quite often for lunch. Just a 12 minute flight from my home base, KTOA, which is near LAX. Here is a short video of fly...

Re: A flight to nowhere?

Weather was good enough Saturday to do the Hudson River tour. It was my first time - it's about an hour south of my home base, and I figured I wasn't gonna get a better chance to do it in low traffic conditions. As it turned out, a bunch of folks had the same idea, so it was far from empty. But the...
