Re: Potential new DA 40 owner seeking input...

Much as a G1000 DA40 is nice to have, there is better value by doing as i did. Find yourself an early steam gauge IFR model and upgrade one of the GNS430s to a W (Garmin change the main board so you effectively have a new unit), and fit an Aspen PFD. This will cost you less than $15,000. I did my IR...

Re: Low Voltage Warning

MAM refers to a Mandatory Design Change. I think, but don't quote me, that the 151 refers to all serial numbers after 151 have this design change. OAM refers to an optional equipment change. MAM is not a post production change as are SBs or ADs, but a change to the production design at the factory. ...

Re: Low Voltage Warning

Thank-you all - very much appreciated! The voltage regulator on a DA40 2.0s is not adjustable I'm afraid. It is external to the alternator and located under the P1 seat (with MAM 40-151 having been carried out). Karl: many thanks for the pics. We'll check this wiring asap and also as Rich suggests t...

Re: Low Voltage Warning

Thanks Rich, Yes - With no load, no avionics at all, at 1400rpm it fluctuates between 13.8 and 14.5. The heavier the load, the greater the fluctuation, as low as 13.3. Where do you start tracking down a short behind my packed panel?! Are there some logical places to start, and are these resistance c...

Low Voltage Warning

Has anyone seen this alert on a diesel DA40? I have been battling with solving this problem for two months now. Under full electrical load, at any rpm, a low voltage alert is triggered for a second or so, on the annunciator display of my DA40, with the switching on of an additional load like transmi...

Re: DA40 D makeover

But the biggest transformation is the full leather interior. All four seats, carpets and headlining and back panel in top quality leather. Two cows apparently and only added 14 lbs. The best thing is it smells like a Bentley when you lift the canopy! A great place to be for cross-country trips.

Re: DA40 D makeover

An update on lots of work done to G-LWLW in the last eighteen months. Painting the original wing-walks was fine, but still a bit scruffy, so I started again and replaced both sides. I bought self-adhesive wing walk on a roll and cut it into strips. Then painted with the rubberised yacht paint to get...
