Re: DA40, ice, and some self-doubt
Hello Have sold my DA 40, just bought a Cirrus. One of things I have learnt is that FIKI allows you climb up above the icing layer or descent down through it. You cannot cruise in it, except for a short time. Your levels of deice fluids are almost as important as your fuel levels. I now look even mo...

Re: Battery DA40XLS
Of note, when you order, have someone go look at the battery you will be getting if possible and tell you the manufacture date. I got mine from spruce a few years back, and the manufacture date was over a year prior, and the voltage was well below what the concorde stuff said it should be in storag...

Re: Starter problem - AOG
An update It was the starter motor after all. Replaced, and then I traveled up to fly my plane home. It started beautifully. Things I learnt - from various sources The start motor can die very suddenly. With a suspect battery you would expect the Garmin 1000 screens to be faded on switching the batt...

Re: Starter problem - AOG
Just heard from the maintenance engineer.
No power from the battery to the starter motor, so it looks like it is a relay issue in the solenoid.
Will fly an electrics engineer in tomorrow.
Such is flying

Re: Starter problem - AOG
Hey Antoine The last time I did a hand start I had fentanyl for the first time. It numbed the pain brilliantly, I dislocated my shoulder, some 4 years later my shoulder aches some times. I worked doing scenic flights in a Tiger Moth, and hand starts were easy, but for some reason my shoulder disloca...

Re: Starter problem - AOG
Hey Robin: If your starter turned, I don't think that is the problem. How old is your battery? No load battery voltage on our battery when fully charged should be 25.8 volts. I see around 25 volts when the master is on. 23.7 volts is less than 25% charge... Steve Hey Steve That was the first thing ...
